Sutro Baths Engagement Session

Ray and I were really excited to have a chance to do an engagement session at the Sutro Baths last week. Daniella and Ryan are getting married in October, and we're honored and excited to be a part of their special day. They're such down-to-earth and friendly people, and it's wonderful to see a couple so in love.

The engagement session took place at the Sutro Bath, where Ryan proposed to Daniella. You can view more shots in the engagement session slideshow here.

Ray took the shot above because I was too much of a chicken to walk on this section of the ruins. :(

Back to school time--and doing time on MUNI

It's back to school time for me once again. Currently I'm in the Visual Communication graduate program at SFSU. This semester is going to kick my ass since I'm taking three classes (and working full-time):

Fashion, Clothing, and Society
Graduate Seminar in Design
History of Photography

Although I truly love school and learning new things, I can't say that I love getting to school. Because I have chosen to not own a car (going on 11 years now), I must go through what I call the "indignity of public transportation"--late and overcrowded buses and trains, having to overhear trite conversations by big mouthed assholes on their cellphones, and the not-so-rare opportunity to sit next to a crazy person on a long ride.

What's the worst thing you've seen, heard, or experienced on public transportation?

At dinner, f8 and I were talking about how the Twilight Zone posted pics of everyone from each week's club, and there were always doubles of the pics. Apparently we're also the only people who have this photo in their possession.

We had a good laugh about this night. We were all a wee bit toasted at the stroke of midnight which ushered in the new year of 1989. You can even see the confetti on Brad's shoulders (far left). Thom is sporting the best smoking jacket/robe ever. I wonder if he still has that...

Through some sort of weird time warp, several friends that I haven't seen for years have poppped up lately. While I was at Trannyshack with Tracy a few months ago, we ran into f8 (Thom) and Jason. It had been about 5 years since I had seen f8, and maybe 15-17 years since I had seen Jason.

Last night Jason, f8, and I got together for dinner, where we howled in laughter over our little high school escapades and caught up on our post high school lives. Luckily f8 lives in SF so hopefully we can get together more often, but unfortunately Jason lives in Seattle so I won't get to see him as much as I would like. It's amazing how you can run into old friends that you haven't seen for ages and you can immediately pick up where you left off.

Apparently, there's been a quest for the holy grail of bubbles -- how to add color to them without staining any surface that they come in contact with after the bubbles burst. Popular Science has a great story on one inventor's 11-year journey with bubbles. (link via yewknee.com)
